Reference frames are arbitrary definitions of a specific position and velocity to derive all other positions and velocities from. All coordinate frames in KSA are right-handed.[1]
Celestial coordinate frames
These are the fundamental frames that make up the basis of all other frames.
- ECL: Ecliptic frame
- ORB: Orbital frame
- CCE: Celestial-centered ecliptic frame
- CCF: Celestial-centered fixed frame
- CCI: Celestial-centered inertial frame
Common coordinate frames
The game defines multiple coordinate frames for vessel control and orbital mechanics.
- STAR: Fixed to the distant stars.
- SURF: Fixed to the surface of the orbiting body.
- ORBT: Fixed to the orbital horizon.
- OVEL: Fixed to the orbital velocity of the vehicle.
- TGT: Fixed to the current target direction.
- BURN: Fixed to the next planned burn direction.
